In June, I thought to myself it had been a while since I had put my foot down on my own training and shape. 8 years since last competing and 6 years since I last did a photoshoot. It was time this year to go on a renewed journey.
So, we acted and booked Definition’s first Coach and client photoshoot. Glad that we did because what a great success it was, and we will be repeating it 100% in 2023.
(If you’d like to be in our next one, you are more than welcome to).
For me, I wanted myself to feel good and look improved for my 38th Birthday. (In 2 weeks).
I get the privilege to help people every day but sometimes you can take the eye of yourself from time to time. I also wanted to try out some new principles and methods I had learnt earlier in the year from working with the awesome Christian Thibaudeau. I still love trying out new ways as much as I did when I started out in the industry nearly 20 years ago. The enthusiasm has not worn off at all. If anything, it just keeps growing.
So, since June, I’ve spent 11 weeks trying to improve on my shape. I train 3 x week currently as it works for me with my schedule. But I feel good on 3. Anymore can sometimes take a bit of recovering from, so my optimum seems to be currently 3.
Walking is my big “go to”. Has been for years. I use it as much as I get chance. A great stress reliever, calorie burner, mobiliser, clears heads and builds base fitness. Yet so many still don’t take advantage of this.
My eating is clean overall. Not a big junk food eater, alcohol very rare but my daily costa latte and biscuit will never be removed. That wasn’t going no matter what shape I desire to be in.
My eating is very different these days to when I competed. I’m just as boring (I’ll always be boring) with my ways but health is my priority. How I feel in myself is of primary importance. Protein lower than I used to, meal frequency less and overall calories much reduced. My stomach and energy levels massively thank me for it. Energy has been good all summer and the reduced fat mass has been a real game changer again.
Overall, very happy with my shoot for turning 38. I have an eye on my 40th in a couple of years and I will be working for top shape for that. We’ve had some great feedback off clients with their shoots too. Quite an anxious, tough first experience it can be having a camera facing you like that. But often the best things in life come from things that make you a bit uncomfortable.
So proud of folk who gave it a go.
