Definition Body Coaching was honoured to play a part in the installation and unveiling of a Suicide Prevention Bench in York, a meaningful community initiative designed to support mental health awareness and connection.
The bench was unveiled on December 4, 2025, in partnership with Legend on the Bench, a mental health charity dedicated to reducing suicide and encouraging people to seek help when they need it most. The event featured former professional footballer Graham Roberts, a double FA Cup and UEFA Cup winner, who joined representatives from the local community and Definition Body Coaching to officially reveal the new bench.
Legend on the Bench
The Suicide Prevention Benches form part of a growing nationwide network of safe places where people feeling isolated or overwhelmed can pause, reflect, and access support. Each bench includes a QR code that links directly to 24/7 mental health resources, helping to bridge the gap between someone in need and the support that can make all the difference.
At the unveiling, speakers shared heartfelt messages about community, resilience, and the importance of listening to one another. Graham Roberts’ presence brought further attention to the cause, reinforcing how sport, community and compassion can come together to champion mental wellbeing.
Definition Body Coaching is proud to have worked alongside the local council and community partners to make this bench a reality. We believe that mental health awareness has as much place in our public spaces as physical fitness does in our gyms. This project is more than a seat. it’s a beacon of support, a prompt to pause, and a reminder that you’re not alone.
If you or someone you know needs support, use the QR code on the bench to access mental health service links, or reach out to local support organisations who are always ready to help.
